THE SKITTLES CLUB
MEMBERSHIP
Numbers of players were again slightly down on the previous year 253 (302): 209 (244) in the Winter season and 125 (128) in the Summer season.SUMMER LEAGUE 2012
Eight teams (as previous year) competed and NEWCOMERS were the League Winners and beatA-Bombs in the Championship game. Awards for Highest Scores went to Mike Lee and Stewart Wilsdon (both 71), Becky Lewis and Lyn Furley (both 63) and Over the Odds (502).AGM
Our A.G.M. was held on 30 April 2013. Major points to report are:
- No nominations were received for the vacancy of Chairman nor for Secretary;
- Match fees will decrease to £12 a team at next Winter season because of a reduction in the alley hire fee and the generous rebate for each playing CSSC member.
‘SPECIAL’ COMPETITIONS
CHAIRMAN’s (John Christie) CUP – Front-pin Rules: MUFFIN MEN (League Champions and President’s Shield Winners) were beaten byA-BOMBS (runners-up in both competitions).
FRONT-PIN CHAMPION (Tony Clay Memorial Shield): Tim Masling
PLAYER-OF-THE-YEAR: Patrick PhairWINTER COMPETITIONS 2012-2013 (League and ‘Shield’)
Nine teams competed (one fewer than the previous season after losing XII). The league was successfully completed although there were more rearranged games than hitherto. All teams won at least 4 of their 16 games. MUFFIN MEN again are the League Champions. Fiends won the Wooden Spoon. Highest Scores were achieved by Gerry Chivers (60) and Jo Chivers and Elise Collins (both 51). Tim Masling had the Gents’ Highest Average (46.00), Jo Chivers for the Ladies (41.53) and Matt Masling (42.00) for the young players.Finals Night on 17 April 2013 saw the MUFFIN MEN win the President’s Shield defeating Odds and Ends.
