The 9 pins - go to Table of Contents Cheltenham Civil Service Skittles Club
Annual Reports to CACSSA

The Skittles Club has had another successful year, enjoyed by those who participated.

There were 5 teams in the 2015 Summer League which was won by Newcomers.

There were just 8 teams in the 2015-2016 Winter League. This was won by the A-Bombs.

Odds and Ends won the President’s Shield, the knock-out competition for teams.

Craig Baker won the Tony Clay Memorial Shield, a knock-out competition for individual players under Front-Pin rules.

John Harper is the Player of the Year, a knock-out competition for individual players.

We continue to notice teams finding it difficult to attract new players. With insufficient players there are fewer teams and the league and hence club will be the poorer.

The Skittles Club finances are quite sound. There are sufficient reserves to pay for replacing our equipment.

Traditionally we use young people as ‘stickers’. Our policy is to only use the children of CSSC members. We are grateful to Phil Lewis who organises them. The teams collect enough money when they play to pay their sticker.

The Club is grateful to CACSSA for providing the alleys which have been the envy of many skittles teams from the town league. Recently the wear on them necessitated resurfacing. Unfortunately this was unsatisfactory and the contractors were recalled to make good; a sign of diminishing experience in this type of work.
